My computer doesn't recognize my Chocolate Touch on Bitpim...well, since it isn't a selection on the Detect Phone drop down list... I was wondering what phone ID I should be using until they update the program? Please and Thank Yous. =P

Ok people, I guess I'll show you how to connect your phone to Bitpim to change menu themes and Flash wallpapers and such. Here you go.

1. Download the latest version of Bitpim (I think the latest is 1.0.7). Once installed, open Bitpim.
2. Plug in your phone (Make sure your phone is in Modem Mode! On phone go into Menu>Settings>USB Auto Detection>Modem Mode)
3. By default, Bitpim will try detecting your phone at startup, but it will fail. Once it fails, it should ask to open settings. Click yes. (If for some reason it doesn't ask, just open settings anyway)
4. Uncheck detect phone at startup, so you only have to do this once.
5. Under Phone Type, set it as either EnV Touch, Chocolate 3, or Dare. It doesn't really matter.
6. Under COM port, type the COM port your phone is connected to. If you don't know, click Browse next to it, and look for LGE USB Modem. It should be at the top of the list. Click OK once you've found it.
7. Click OK to save settings.
8. The preinstalled categories Bitpim has at the side for your contacts and stuff won't work for the phone. So to view the filesystem go to View at the top and check View Filesystem.
9. Click Filesystem on the side. This will give you access to the filesystem. (opening the root folder of the phone will take awhile to load, but just wait, it'll work)

That's it! The theme and flash wallpaper files are in the flash>ui folder.

PS- ALWAYS make sure you back up your original files in case something goes wrong!

If you need any more help, reply to this topic or send me a personal message.

This is all good stuff, but when I use BitPim and display the Files, I can find the correct files to "Replace", "Redirect" or what have you, I DO NOT have that option.  All I get is "Save..." or "Hex_Something".  No "Delete" or "Replace".  Any ideas?
This is for LG Chocolate Touch.

When you right click on an item in Bitpim, you should get the following on the list.

Save... -save the file to your computer
Hexdump -not too sure, I just leave it alone
Delete -removes the file from the device
Overwrite... -overwrite (replace) the item on the phone. This is what you'll use for installing SWF files on the phone.

This is on Bitpim version 1.0.7, which I think is the latest version.

Alright guys. I need some help. Everything works perfect except for my Comm Ports. When I go to choose it, they're under 'Inoperable Ports.'

LGE CDMA USB Modem
LGE CDMA USB Serial Port (Com 5)
LGE CDMA USB Modem #2
LGE CDMA USB Serial Port (Com 14)
LGE CDMA USB Modem #3
LGE CDMA USB Serial Port (Com 18)

Because of this BitPim can't read my CT. I have no idea what this is related to, or how to fix it. I still use my phone in USB Mass mode to transfer files and such directly from my computer, and Music Sync works too. Please help.

Well see for me when that happened I was connected to the front USB ports of my Desktop and then when I switched over to the back ports it worked fine. Maybe try it in a back port if you are using front or the other way around.

I am having the same issue...seems the latest software version on the 8575 is not compatible with the Bitpim, yet.  I tried every LG phone setting and nothing synched up.  So I await the bitpim version update!

What software version do you have? I have VX857V05 and it works fine. On Bitpim you need to choose LG enV Touch or Dare as your phone, because auto detection won't work correctly.
