Hi i see there's a small LED window in the upper right hand side of the LG Chocolate touch phone I see this is called the "status light" my Blackberry had one too! I cannot for the life of me get it to turn on or know how to.....can anyone tell me the way to do this?

According to the manual, that's not a status light -- it's a light SENSOR.  The Touch uses it to adjust the screen brightness and save on battery power when full brightness isn't required.

It also has the handy ability to turn off the touch screen when the phone is up to your ear (and consequently blocking all light) so that you don't hit random buttons with your cheek.

the oval is the proximity sensor which turns the backlight off if it's close to your face when you're in a call, and turns it back on if you need to use the dial pad.  the circle is just the light sensor which just automatically adjusts the backlight level.
