Hi Everybody,
I just got my Chocolate Touch and quickly realized it was going to be another techno journey of discovery.  so far I've phone Verizon techs about a dozen times to learn what a manual or CD used
to teach me.  Not that they were inadequate.  They just had to go and read their materials and
ask each other questions.   so I'm glad to find a place like this where I won't be alone in the cyber
jungle of Chocolate.
One thing I enjoy doing is DLing e-audiobooks through the local library and playing them with my
MP3 player.  I had hoped that the Choc Touch would allow me to carry one less item but I did not
intend to use Vcast downloads.
Okay, I'm getting away from intro into problem solving . . . sorry.   I'm retired self taught tech type.
I sing with a barbershop chorus and fix senior citizen homes with a charitable organization called
Rebuilding Together.   I love to shop online and seek out info on things that I decide should have been
invented by now, whether I need them or not.

Okay, snuff about me . . . oh, yeah, I really like SF!
Got to go to the "solve my problem" area of this board now.
Good to find a gathering of such  single minded people.

FYI you can get a full 157-page manual here.  Still doesn't tell you everything but it's a whole lot better than that silly little thing they pack with the phone.

I also want to find out how to download stuff -- e-books, ringtones, whatever -- without a data plan.  I use my USB cable to sync Outlook calendar appointments, and that works fabulously.  I can transfer data to the phone but I haven't quite figured out all the details of how to do different ringtones/etc.

If you get your e-book onto a computer, and connect to the phone with USB (go to Tools -> USB Mass Storage, and then your computer will see the phone), then you should be able to transfer the e-book to My Music and play it there.

You can also use various music management software to sync music and such to the phone (Windows Media Player, Winamp, Media Monkey, etc.). When you plug your phone into the computer, tap Sync Music on the phone screen. Then open the music software of your choice. It should show your phone as a media device. I have used Winamp to sync music and playlists with no problem.

Welcome, imo the manual doesn't tell you anything other than things on rhapsody!

Well, sure the manual is not going to say anything about other software and music...they want to get you using Rhapsody so that you might try the subscription.

Okay, thanks for all the response!  Looks like a lot of us are on the learning curve.  I'm looking for assistance on a related matter to audio book listening.  Now that I can turn the books on, I haven't found a satisfactory way to bookmark.  That means when I'm through listening and stop, I have to start all over in a chapter.
I've been using pause (like overnight?) and I'd prefer another way.

Also, the sections of the book download as a series of files.   EAch is numbered at the end.  But they aren't playing back sequentially.  Sometimes it evening only plays the odd numbered.  A partial solution has been to rename with the numbers is front.  Anyone else got experience with that?
