Hello my name is Micah. I'm new here to Chocolate but I am a Pro Member of LG-Vu.com I've found that not only will bitpin will connect to the phone, EFS will also let you explore the file system. I will get with some of the guys at LG-Vu and see what we can come up with as in themes, schemes, and other mods. I'll be talking to you guys soon!  Wink

Actually from the looks of things on the site, it seams there is some LG-Vu members on here. Can I see a raise of hands  Grin

Welcome, Micah!

How similar is the Vu to the Chocolate?  Do you have any idea if e.g. the apps and games would work?  What else can we learn from your Vu experience?

Welcome to the forum, Micah. I hope you can offer us CT owners some pointers on how to customize our phones. I had the enV Touch theme on my Chocolate Touch for about five minutes--limited functionality but it looked nice. I am looking forward to your tips on how to get new themes on my phone.

Well from what I can tell there is some similarity in the firmware but the Touch has second level menus and the Vu does not. I will dissect the ui file on the phone and see how hard it will be to mod. Themes can be added to the Touch. You just need to basically modify an existing theme for starters. It's not too easy though!!! You need to know flash recompiling and action script. I'll try to modify on of the themes and keep you guys updated on progress.

Here are some examples of what I created for the Vu. I'll figure out how to do this on the Touch.

First of all, you make a backup copy of the user interface/menu so that you can return the phone to factory specs or undo changes that you (or the phone) doesn't like. When you connect the phone and start Bitpim, manually set it as either Chocolate 3 or enV Touch (get the latest test release of Bitpim). Select Filesystem under view and then click on the folder in the middle pane. Navigate to the flash folder, then choose "ui" (user interface). You will see a couple of menus. These are menu themes 1 and 2 on the phone (one is mostly gray and the other is mostly blue).

WARNING!!!! Manipulating these files can brick your phone. I tried to put a flash clock on my phone and there was something in the file that caused my phone to go into a power up/power down loop. I was able to fix it by pulling the battery and over writing the bad file with the stock file while the battery was out. That was a bad few minutes. I do have flash clocks that work on my phone, it was something in that particular file that caused the malfunction.
