Hi. I need your help. Can't find unlock code for Hidden Setup Menu to make it done. Many years I did it on my phones before to make double battery life time. (Forcing 1x Mode = Turning off EVDO or 3G). Thanks.

Dial   ##77647268575   Then press send, then dial 000000, then
 Choose  Network Select
 Choose  Mode Preference
 Then select 1x Only

Then hit END

To turn 3G back on go through the same steps except choose Digital Only Hybrid not 1x Only.

Let me know how it goes.

I'm a little unclear on this.  I understand that turning off 3G reduces the battery drain because you're basically turning off one of the radios (right?), but what's the effect?  Does it change connect speeds on data connections?  Does it change voice quality or anything else on voice connections?  If you don't use data (no data plan) is there any reason to have 3G turned on?

(BTW in case you want to remember that number, ##77647268575 is ##PROGRAM8575  Wink)

I turn off 3G, because I dont want to use data at all. Voice quality, pix messages and text is not effected. I think if you use data you should keep it on.

OK, then I should probably turn it off too.  I have no data plan and don't want to use data.  (Or rather I don't want to PAY for data! Smiley)  I don't even send picture msgs &etc because I assumed those would be $$expensive$$ without a data plan.

Sending pix cost 25 cents and texts are 20 cents each coming or going. I pay as I go because I dont do it much.

Tried and when it asked for phone lock code, I entered the 000000 and got the error of incorrect lock code.  Does verizon use another code?

If you have  a VX8575 Verizon Chocolate Touch this will work. And DO NOT FORGET! After each update like *228 you have to change it over and over.

I'm new here and this was the first area I looked at.  Since I don't need the 3G either and
use phone as MP3 player I was happy to get additional battery time by going to 1X.
And Happy New Year!
