Facebook recently just came out with the new Places feature and I like the idea of it, it seems like a neat way to tell my friends where I'm going and stuff. But I haven't been able to get the feature to work on my phone. I know it's a new feature and I'm wondering if it will eventually work when it's fully released and I just need to have patience, or if it's something that will never work with my phone. The feature works on my computer, so I'm a bit concerned that if it works there it would already work on my phone. On Facebook it says that your mobile browser must support HTML 5 and geolocation, and I have no idea if the Chocolate Touch has these things or not. With it being a fairly new phone I figured it would be up to date enough, and the fact that it has a GPS system built into it (which I don't use because I already have a GPS system and don't want to pay monthly to have it on my phone) I thought that it would have the location ability needed for this. Then again I don't really know if they are the same thing, they just seem like they would be. Or is this geolocation something that only smartphones have? I am getting really annoyed at smartphones lately since nothing seems to be made compatible for anything other than smartphones. Anyway, when I try to use Places through the site touch.facebook.com, the Places tab shows up, I touch it, it shows me where my friends have been but the Check In button just doesn't show up at all and I can't check in anywhere. When I do this on my computer, it shows up and I am able to choose from a list of nearby places within a few miles to check in at. If anyone has managed to get this to work on the Chocolate Touch or if anyone knows the answers to any of my questions of whether or not something like would even possibly work on this phone, I'd love to know. Thanks.

The CT does have a built in GPS, but I don't think the web browser can access it. Have you heard of the app called Social Beat? It's a social networking app. They update it pretty often and they'll probably have support for the Places feature soon. Social Beat is free on the Verizon Media Store.

Thank you. That is super disappointing that this phone has a GPS on it that is worthless to me since I will never use it for driving, it would be nice if I could use it for the things I want to use it for.   Undecided  I had not heard of Social Beat but I looked into it and if they update it to include the Places feature I will definitely get it. Thanks for letting me know about it!
