problem with battery & speaker-please help

I had my chocolate touch for about 7 months. One day i forgot to charge it at home and used my friend's blackberry micro usb charger to charge it. I got a message that said "this device is not recommended for this phone" but it was still charging so i left it on. Now the battery life is only 6-8 hours and the loud speaker on the back will not work. when i use headphones to play music, no sound will come out. Please help!!! would replacing the battery fix the problem or is there something else wrong too??

Well I wouldn't think that just using a different charger would affect that. Because I've used a charger for a Droid before and got that message and my phone still works fine, and I haven't had those problems. Have you done anything else that could have caused it to do that? Sorry I can't really help much......

I'm also having a similar problem...
My phone will only work if plugged into the charger. If I remove the charge cable it will die within a few seconds. My speaker will stop working/crackle loudly occasionally.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
